1. General information
Students who study full-time in educational institutions of secondary, technical, vocational, post-secondary and higher education belong to the privileged category of the population.
For them, contributions to compulsory social health insurance (OSMS) are paid by the state.
Such students do not need to pay contributions to the CSHI, even if they are employed — the employer does not make contributions for them.

Full-time students studying in Kazakhstan automatically receive the status of "insured" in the СSHI system upon the start of their studies.

Full-time students studying abroad, in order to obtain the status of insurance in the CSHI, must register themselves on the e-government portal in the section "Students studying abroad”
2. What should I do if a student has an "uninsured" status?
Steps to action:
  • Contact the dean's office of the educational institution.
  • Request data entry into the National Educational Database (NOBD).
Check the data in the database:
  • Make sure that the form of study is "full-time".
  • Check the correctness of filling in the fields: "period of study", "IIN" and "Full name".
It is important to know:
Errors in these fields can lead to a refusal to grant the preferential status of "insured".
3. How do I get the insurance status for a student studying abroad?
To get the insurance status, you need to:
  • Log in to the egov portal.kz
  • Go to the section "Registration of students studying abroad" in the section "education".
  • Attach a certificate from the place of study and a transcript (credit book) (with translation into Kazakh or Russian, notarized).

You can get a temporary insurance status for one month. To do this, you need to send an appeal to the mobile application of the Qoldau 24\7 Medical Insurance Fund with the essence of the question and attach a certificate from the place of study.

4. What should I do if my employer pays my fees and deductions for me, but I am a student?
If you are a full—time student, you are exempt from paying contributions to the CSHI, as well as your employer from deductions for the CSHI.
In case of mistakenly paid contributions, the employer can refund them with your written consent.
